Team 73 Fundraising

Our Goal: 

To raise funds that will be directly applied by Schools to support students’ extra-curricular programs within School District 73 Secondary Schools and West Zone of the Okanagan Valley Schools Athletic Association.

Who:

Kevin Carswell and Jack Buckham are both retired career teachers with a combined 66 years experience as educators, athletic directors and coaches within School District 73 and our Community.

Why:

 Simply put, we are “Supporting student rights to participation in programs beyond the classroom.” In recent years these rights have been eroded and we wish to ensure that no student gets left behind and that no programs get cut when it comes to the “other half of education” in a public school. We have become concerned because we are aware of the potential loss of programs due to inadequate funding, and the loss of opportunity for students because of escalating costs and the loss of programs.  We visualize this as an opportunity for a Community to help a Community to ensure that our sons and daughters, grandchildren, their children, our future employees, customers, friends and relatives in our own Community, receive the very best that our school programs can offer!

Programs Supported:

 Athletic and Sport Opportunity.  Fine Arts through Music, Art and Drama Participation and Student Leadership Opportunity within Secondary Schools.

How Will Funds Be Used:

 Funds will be distributed by School District 73 to each participating school on an equal basis, to facilitate the provision of the activities, and to reduce the cost to students so that student fees do not become prohibitive and exclusionary.
