In the Fall of 2009, Kevin Carswell and Jack Buckham made a presentation to School District 73 regarding the need to look at changing the current Board policy concerning corporate sponsorship in the schools. A big part of that presentation was an impressive list of businesses and professionals that endorsed letters of support for allowing our community businesses, professionals that endorsed letters of support for allowing our community businesses, professionals and individuals to support co-curricular programs such as Athletics. We truly believe that the demonstration of community support was a critical factor influencing the Board's decisions. At the presentation, we offered some suggestions and our services to pursue this avenue of support. Soon after, we were invited to meet with the policy committee to further classify our ideas and suggestions. They have recently notified us that they would like to support our suggestions, change some components of the policy and look for ways to support these programs through corporate involvement. This is very exciting and encouraging, and creates an incredible opportunity for local and national businesses, professionals, and individuals to offer financial support for the many worthwhile programs currently offered in the schools. Many of these programs are in serious jeopardy due to loss of financial subsidies such as vending/pop machines. This new, progressive board policy will allow our business community, professionals, and individuals to finally get involved in ways that they have always wanted. Jack and Kevin will be operating as Fundraisers for the District and will be channeling all financial donations through the Board Office. Tax receipts will be issued for all donations and a variety of Sponsorship Recognition will be implemented. The two most significant elements of our involvement are that businesses will not be inundated by numerous teams coming and asking for support it will be done through one "entity", and equitable distribution of funds will ensure that school/program needs are fairly addressed. Contact us to discuss the opportunity for your participation and involvement, and to seek your ideas and suggestions as we move into this exciting new era of Community Support Respectfully, |
